“Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity.” Psalm 39:4-5
Everyone wants to live a fulfilling life. Even as Believers, we all want that feeling of knowing we are having an impact in the lives of those around us and giving something to the world. We want to know that God is pleased with us and that we are fulfilling His purpose. Sometimes we can live our whole lives seeking God’s plan and never even realize that we were doing exactly what God wanted us to do the whole time. Maybe it just takes having a different perspective to live a fulfilling life.
There are three things that you can proactively start doing today to start living a more fulfilling life in the Lord as He wants you to live. First, determine to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord and fulfilling. Don’t live in regret of the past or become melancholy about the present, or fearful of the future, but live determined. Make up your mind. Second, realize your frailty. Understand that it is only through Christ and His abiding Truth that you can, and will, make it through.
The third thing you must do is get up and act. If you aren’t sure what He wants you to do, then take proactive steps to prepare yourself for His service, and learn to wait and seek Him. Never view what God has you doing as wasted time, because God never wastes time. Even when He rested at the seventh period of creation, God was doing something. God may have you in a period of rest, of preparation, or testing, but it is all for something greater. When God sends us to do something it is most always trying and challenging. So be prepared. Start doing something for the Lord as best you can.
You are a part of God’s plan for this day and age. You are intentionally placed on this earth to live every moment to the pleasure of your Maker. Live as a determined Believer, realize your own frailty and realize God’s strength, and become a Believer whose faith is in action.
In a few moments an elderly man and woman come up, and this lady, when they introduced themselves, was from Oakland came over, going to be here for the meeting. They're probably present tonight. And she received, as I understand, the Holy Spirit two years before I was born. She's been—been preaching for forty-one years, I think it is, the Gospel. When I see people like that, and she said, "There's only thing, one thing that worries me; I wish I could get out and keep going." My, I felt just about that big standing beside of that woman, to think of an old saint, old aged and still all that's in her, something cries out, "More God, if I could do something for Him." Should make us ashamed of ourselves. We should go right out into the field, start doing something for the Lord Jesus. 60-0228 – “Conferences”
