A life well spent

By Michael Tidwell

Recently, it was a beautiful summer evening and I was out riding my bike.  I stopped to watch the sunset and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a few deer frolicking.  Briefly,  I turned to watch them play and turned back to continue watching the sunset.  It was gone.  In those brief moments, it had escaped behind the horizon.  There was no great announcement.  People continued about their business.  It left as quietly as it had came up.

I watched the sunset,

It reminded me that my sun is setting too.

In the business of life,

it's so easy to forget,

that I'm only passing through.

Lord, remind me what matters at the end,

I want my life well spent.

Catherine Booth the wife of the founder of the salvation army  said it well as she was dying.  "Do not be concerned about dying; go on living well, the dying will be right."

Each of us will leave this world but while we are here we have a golden opportunity to get the living right so that the dying will be right.

Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away. Psalm 144:4

evmichaelMichael and his wife Crista, are blessed to have three beautiful children (Noah, Gracie, Luke). They live in the middle TN area and attend Eagle Christian church. He counts it a honor to be involved with Eagle’s View, BYC and serving as a evangelist. They enjoy being outdoors, traveling and above all serving the Lord.
