A Willing and Ready Mind

If this church, right now could be put together, and knitted together with such that every person would be in one accord, with not one shadow of doubt anywhere, there would not be a feeble person in our midst, in another five minutes. There would not be nobody here desiring the Holy Ghost but what would receive It, if you could just get that certain thing fixed. Now, there is where the battle begins, right in your mind, whether you will. (Branham, William., The Greatest Battle Ever Fought).

The series of life’s events take form and shape in the library of our mind. There are remembrances within our thoughts, but not exactly, as the memories were recorded. We tend to embellish and enhance our thought life with the slant in which we perceive things and people by. The upside of this is we support our opinions with the variety contained within each answer, but the downside is we hold our opinions and memories as an absolute because we ‘Remember’ them in a certain way. As believers we need to subjugate our minds to the Word of the Lord.

Paul says:  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;  (KJV, II Corinthians Chapter 10, Verses 4-5).

Here is an example of preconceived notions:  When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  (KJV, Matthew Ch 16, Verses 13-18).

Notice the real battle of the mind is to capture and eliminate any thought contrary to God’s desire for our lives. After the battle the King comes in through the gates.  David mentioned:  Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.   (KJV, Psalm, Ch 24, Verse 7-10).

Brother Branham taught us:  If you haven't yet received the Holy Spirit, listen, my precious brother. As many times as people talk against it, not being today; it is for today. See? The Holy Spirit… And don't you leave this conference ground until you have received It; you stay right with God. The–the… Just keep… Don't–don't–don't make up your way, way you want to receive It. See? You've got in your mind that you have to see something, or have some sensation. When you go in there to pray, you just go in saying, "Lord, I come in to get the Holy Ghost." See? And He will take care of the rest of it. You just–just be real sincere, and break down all thoughts of you're not going to receive It…..  (Branham, William., Having Conferences).

Jesus said:  Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind(KJV, Luke Chapter 12, Verses 27-29)Again, Jesus said:  Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  (KJV, Matthew Ch 22, Verses 36-37).

The Prophet Isaiah mentioned:  Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: (KJV, Isaiah Ch 26, Verses 3-4).
